My Plea

Dedicated to the Lost Children of God...

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.” (Isaiah 55:1-2)

Are you tired of studying or working day after day, only to earn a few days' vacation and a comfortable old age? Are you carefully tiptoeing through life so you can die comfortably? Are you tired of this seemingly meaningless life? Do you wish you can just sleep and sleep, rather than being forced to wake up in the morning for another dreary day?

“For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

If, in reality, the ultimate, personal being God, who is best characterized by unconditional love, exists, do you wish to know Him?

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.” (Matthew 15:19)

Have you ever been gripped by any thoughts or desires that just seem evil or wrong? Have you ever been tempted to do anything you feel to be morally wrong but could not resist the temptation? Have you tried to improve what is seemingly a predicament of human nature?

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

The Greek tense of the verbs here, present imperatives, are used, so here persistent asking, seeking, and knocking are emphasized. The Bible says that God has promised anyone who seeks Him will know Him. It's up to you.

If you answer yes to any of the above questions, I suggest you say something akin to the following.

“God, I do not know if you are there. But if you exist and if you are love, I want to know you. Please reveal yourself to me.”

Because God is love, He will always answer the seeker.
